Safety Runs First is designed to foster greater collaboration and investment in safety throughout the sport of Thoroughbred racing, including:
Expanded veterinary oversight
Additional investment in enhanced diagnostics and data-driven technology
Optimal conditions of racing and training surfaces
Adherence to HISA’s uniform rules
Sustainable care for our horses throughout their lives
The campaign is funded by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and its member organizations to serve as a continuing resource for the public and to raise awareness as the racing industry continues to make unprecedented investments in programs and resources to enhance the safety of its athletes.
